Cheraman
Juma Masjid, the first Mosque in India (Built in 662 AD) is
situated in Metahala, NH -17, 2 KM form Kodungalloor, Thrissur,
Kerala, India. The Cheraman Juma Masjid was built by Malik
Bin Dinar, one of the 13 followers of Prophet Muhammad who
reached the ancient port of Musris on the spice route in Malabar
in 629 A.D. Perumal is reports to have died at the port of
Zafar, Yemen, where the tomb of the Indian King was a major
attraction to Muslim pilgrims for many centuries. Legend says
that Cheraman Perumal, a Hindu ruler of Musris, embraced Islam
at the behest of Dinar, abdicated his throne and left for
Mecca to meet the Prophet. The Cheraman Malik Manzil
Orphanage & Hospice is situated
in front of Cheraman Juma Masjid was started in 1952 by Late.
Manappatt Kunni Muhammad Haji to uplift orphans by giving
them proper helps in time.
